Thanks for the book report, Glenn. I will look for a copy. I agree that it's vital to be able to see animals from many different points of view in order to spread the message of empathy toward them.
Just a note about the human capacity to feel empathy: If I have my facts straight, it's pychopathic individuals who have a more or less complete lack of empathy. Psychosis, on the other hand, is a very common symptom affecting people with diverse disorders such as delusional, bipolar and schizoaffective disorders as well as schizophrenia. Individuals with these illnesses have intact empathic systems (although during a psychotic episode this - and much else - can be affected).
