My dad used to say that our dog had a very high level of "emotional intelligence". Little Turbeau (bijon frise) was certainly not the brightest crayon in the box, but he would stare into your eyes and maintain eye contact with you basically until you looked away. This memory makes me miss him : (

Also, I definitely feel the collective pain that we cause animals as a society. Kill to live - it is the basis of our current-day thinking.
