I think it's important to note that while protesters did damage property, they did not commit violence (did not hurt anyone), yet the police did hurt people and there is footage of brutal arrests:

It's easy to pass off the protesters as kids in masks on a vandalism spree, and maybe some of the march was this, but black-blocking is a strategy with a purpose.

And anarchy - dissent towards the hierarchical, capitalistic structure, is definitely a cause that aligns with animal rights, which attempts to eliminate the confinement and exploitation of factory farming.
